“Our Gang Racing” in their 2009 calendar
The U-17 is pictured for the month of August in the Operating Engineers of Washington and Alaska, Local 302 annual calendar. Operating Engineers of Washington and Alaska, represent heavy machine operators in Washington and Alaska. The uniquely designed U-17 Unlimited Hydroplane is shown being lowered into Lake Sammamish, Washington by a Ness Campbell Crane. Ness Campbell Crane donated the cranes for the annual Tastin’ n Racin’ Limited Regatta, in Issaquah, Washington, where the U-17 did their spring testing in 2008.

The U-17 had the honor of being the first Turbine Unlimited to test on the lake. 2004 Gold Cup winner Nate Brown, took to the water for the initial test laps then turned the wheel over to accomplished limited driver, and nephew, Kip Brown. When interviewed after his first ride in an Unlimited, all Kip had to say was, “What have I got myself into”!!!!!  Kip qualified as an Unlimited driver at Tri-Cities in the U-17 and then took the U-17 to a 4th place finish in Seattle. Kip will continue to be the driver for the 2009 season. The U-17 team is looking forward to a successful 2009 season.
